Student Council, a prominent student government organization, gives students a voice in determining school activities and environment. It helps promote activities for the entire student body at John F. Kennedy High School and fosters a positive climate throughout the school.
Being an elected member of Student Council is both an honor and a challenge. Members plan and organize all homecoming activities during spirit week and are responsible for planning all school dances including the prom. In addition, Student Council members are engaged daily by acting as a liaison between students and administrators.
The members of Student Council take pride in their active involvement and support of a multitude of school activities and are often called upon to assist at parent, alumni and community events. Since Student Council is modeled on a representative form of student government and is intended to promote leadership skills, members are encouraged to attend leadership-training activities at both the local and state levels. The Kennedy Student Council is an active member of the Gateway Association of Student Councils and the Missouri Association of Student Councils.
